Paging David Foster Wallace:

A huge Royal Caribbean liner docked 60 miles away from Haiti’s devastation in the heavily guarded resort of Labadee, and it won’t be the only one. In the private resort, passengers can enjoy water sports, eat barbecues, and shop at craft fairs before returning to the boat. Meanwhile, 60 miles away, Haitians continue to suffer due to a lack of food and water. Some passengers have complained of the insensitivity of stopping in Haiti at a time like this, but the cruise line insists it’s the best way to help Haiti.
