Right there on the verge of trying too hard, but it’s worth giving The Nascent (despite its name) a good long once-over. Haven’t tried the food but it looks all incredibly appealing and is locally baked in Red Hook, from what I understand. The cafe au lait and iced coffee were both above average and the staff seemed pleasant, easy-going and attitude-free. (via Jeffrey M. on Yelp)
